The Big Myth

Surgery is the sure-fire cure for prostate cancer Written by Richard Steele

Welcome to www.SurvivingProstateCancerwithoutSurgery.org, a website dedicated to debunking the myth that surgery is the sure-fire cure for prostate cancer.

Are you or a loved one suffering from prostate cancer? Is your doctor, wife or family urging you to undergo surgery? Are you still trying to make up your mind?

If so, then you have turned to this website at precisely the right time. Here you will find scientific data that demonstrate that radical surgery is not always the right course of action to take. You
will find numerous and encouraging examples of alternative approaches to treat prostate cancer
without surgery without pain, and without loss of normal body functions. Equally important, you will
find other people like yourself who share the same concerns about prostate cancer and who can guide, support, and inspire you through the daunting journey that lies ahead.

Before you decide to go under the knife, there are three things you need to know about radical
prostatectomy, an operation in which the prostate and seminal vesicles are removed, and nerves, arteries, and veins are severed. These are three things that should be earnestly considered before reaching a final decision about surgery.

(1) There is no controlled scientific evidence that men with prostate cancer live any longer with surgery than without it. In fact, there are two randomized controlled studies that
conclude that surgery fails to extend life.

The first, undertaken by P. Iversen, P.O. Madsen and D.K. Corle, was documented in the Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology, supplement 1995 (January
1). The second was conducted by L. Holmberg, A. Bill-Axelson and 12 others was reported in the New England Journal of Medicine 2002 (September).

(2) Traditional prostate surgery always causes sexual dysfunction. It always harms the men who
undergo it, even when it fails as a cure.

(3) Traditional prostate surgery can also cause men to suffer incontinence, urethral strictures or other problems, even when it fails as a cure.

There are at least seven different treatments for prostate cancer. Has your doctor taken the time to
review them all with you?

For more information, you may order the book " Surviving Prostate Cancer Without Surgery" by Dr.
Bradley Hennenfent. (For book orders, please refer to the info listed on the right of this page.)
